Capsule wardrobe planner: fewer pieces, more outfits

Capsule wardrobes fail when they are copied from someone else's life. Thirty-three perfect pieces are useless if twelve of them assume an office you do not go to. A capsule planner starts from your climate, your week and your palette, then explains why each slot exists.

Two ways to build one

The Capsule Planner works in the abstract: describe your lifestyle, climate, an optional palette and how many pieces you want, and it returns a capsule with the reasoning behind each slot plus outfit combinations.

The Capsule Builder works from reality: it assembles a tight rotation out of pieces already in your Trend Tutor Academy closet. Most people get the most out of running the planner first and the builder second.

How many pieces is right

There is no sacred number. A one-climate, one-context life runs happily on around twenty-five pieces. Four real seasons and a mixed work and social calendar needs more like forty.

Count what you wear in a normal fortnight and add a small buffer. That is your capsule size, not a number from a blog post.

Keeping it from going stale

A capsule is a rotation, not a uniform. Keep two pieces that exist purely because you like them, and swap the third layer seasonally rather than rebuilding the base.

If you get bored in week three, the palette was too narrow, not the capsule idea.

How to use it

  1. Describe your week honestly: work, weather, social life.
  2. Choose a size that matches a normal fortnight of wear.
  3. Run the planner and save the result to your Library.
  4. Run the Capsule Builder to see how close your current closet already is.

Questions people ask

What is the difference between the planner and the builder?
The planner suggests a capsule from scratch based on your lifestyle. The builder only uses items already recorded in your closet.
Do I have to get rid of everything else?
No. A capsule is the rotation you reach for, not a rule about ownership. Store the rest and see if you miss it.
Can I plan a seasonal capsule?
Yes. Describe the season and climate in your brief and the resulting slots will reflect it.
